What is THE ZONE?
THE ZONE YYC is an indoor Airsoft and Reball arena in Calgary. We offer year-round play, full rental bookings, private group sessions, and scheduled games for new and experienced players.

What is Airsoft?
Airsoft is a team-based game played with equipment that shoots small plastic BBs. At THE ZONE, indoor close-quarters games put teamwork, communication, and quick decisions at the centre of the action.

What is Reball?
Reball uses reusable, paintball-style rounds without paint. It offers the excitement of paintball in an indoor setting, with no paint splatter—great for games, skill development, and team practice.

Do I need experience to play?
No! First-time players are welcome. Let us know you’re new when booking so we can help you choose a suitable session and explain what to expect.

Do I need my own equipment?
No. We offer full rental bookings, so you can play without owning your own gear. Players with their own equipment are welcome too, provided it meets our field rules.

How do I book rental equipment?
When booking, select Airsoft or Re-ball, then choose Rental Player or Equipment Owner. Select Rental Player to let us know you’ll need rental equipment.

Can I book a private event?
Yes! Private bookings are available for groups looking to enjoy the arena together. Contact us with your group size, preferred date, and whether you need rental equipment.

Can I come without a full group?
We offer scheduled sessions alongside private bookings. Check the booking page for upcoming games and the requirements for each session.

Do I need to book in advance?
Please book ahead to secure your place. Scheduled events may have player limits or require registration, and rental equipment should be arranged in advance.

What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that lets you move freely and clean, supportive, closed-toe footwear. Long sleeves and long pants are recommended. Please make sure your footwear and gear are free of mud and dirt before entering the playing area.

FULL FACE MASKS ARE REQUIRED

Due to insurance requirements, every player must wear a full-face paintball mask at all times while in the playing area. This requirement applies to all players, including Airsoft players.

Goggles alone are not permitted.
Goggles combined with a separate mesh face mask are not permitted.

Your mask must provide full, integrated protection for the eyes, face, and ears, and must remain properly worn at all times while you are in the playing area.

Can I bring my own Airsoft equipment?
Yes, provided it meets THE ZONE’s equipment and safety requirements. Session rules may vary—for example, some events may restrict the types of equipment allowed. Check your session details and contact us if you’re unsure about your setup.

What is the Airsoft energy limit?
All Airsoft equipment must shoot at or below 1.14 joules to be used at THE ZONE. This limit applies regardless of BB weight. Heavier BBs require a lower FPS to stay within the same energy limit.

FPS values are rounded down to the nearest whole number. The maximum permitted energy remains 1.14 joules, calculated using the BB weight you are shooting.

What are the Reball equipment limits?
Reball play has a maximum velocity of 260 FPS, with semi-auto firing only and a maximum rate of fire of 10.5 balls per second. Outside pods are not permitted. Please use THE ZONE’s Re-ball pods, which we provide for you.

Can I remove my mask between games?
Only after you have left the playing area. Your mask must remain on while you are on the field, even when a game has stopped.

Where can I shoot or test my equipment?
Shooting is permitted only in the playing field and designated chrono range. Barrel bags must be secured outside the playing field.

Does getting hit hurt?
A hit can sting and may leave a mark or bruise. Suitable clothing and properly fitted protective equipment help make the experience more comfortable. Did you know that Re-balls are lighter than normal paintballs? So they actually hurt less. If you’re concerned, talk to us before booking.

Do Airsoft and Reball players play against each other?
Airsoft and Reball use separate game formats. When a session welcomes both, play alternates between formats. Check the event description to see what is offered.

Does the field layout change?
Yes. Our configurable arena allows different layouts for tactical games, fast-paced play, and team practice. Check individual session details for the featured layout or format.

Can my team book practice time?
Yes. Private sessions can be used for team training, communication drills, and game preparation. Contact us to discuss your preferred format and availability.

Can we play during the winter?
Absolutely. THE ZONE is indoors and offers year-round play, so you can stay active through Calgary’s changing seasons.
